The posters follow the songs Power and Monster by Kanye West. Three-dimensional objects cut from paper illustrate the song titles.
I used returning elements to achieve a visual connection between the images. Those elements have the shape of small pyramids; I used them to represent an explosion and teeth of a monster—the pyramids represent trees in a third design for the song Lost (In The World).
One of my fellow students suggested to add teeth to the monster’s face because the first design of the monster didn’t have any teeth at all—it was not supposed to be a toothless monster, but a group of angry monsters looking down at you; however, since I saw the possibility to reuse the pyramids from the other poster and thereby establish a visual connection between the images, I thankfully added the teeth.
An important part of the project was a time of experimentation, which I used to develop the visual language.
